What about that story about a woman who started an umbrella corporation and decided to give every employee a sign saying “no umbrella corporation business ever again”? Well, that isn’t exactly how I view it. The truth is that there are three levels of self-awareness. The first level is the awareness of the self. The second level is the awareness of the other people around you. The third level is the awareness of the world.
In our company, every employee is aware of the world, but the world in which they are aware of it, so they can’t be in two places at once. Our employees know that we are all aware of our business, but they also know that our business is their business, and that it is their choice to not work for an umbrella corporation.
