I always seem to be in motion when I’m in a new room. If I’m in my kitchen I’m in my kitchen, if I’m in class I’m in class, if I’m walking around the apartment I’m walking around the apartment. What I need to understand is that the world is a large place and that our actions and thoughts do not always register with the objects we are looking at.
The other day I was at a conference talking to a bunch of people about a new startup that they were developing. One of the guys was talking about how the technology they were building was very different from what he had seen in the movies. He was trying to teach me a bit about the nature of motion, and I was nodding my head in understanding.
If you want to understand motion, you need to understand the nature of objects. I know that sounds a bit corny, but I think it’s true. If you want to build a platform where people can see, hear, and interact with the world in a new way, you need to understand the nature of the objects that the platform is going to be interacting with.
One of the things that made cpt so different from what he had seen in the movies, was that the way he was walking was all weird and fast, and it looked like he was running in circles. It was almost like he had a bit of a mental breakdown.
The nature of the objects that cpt would be interacting with would be the platform’s physicality. We can’t really make him walk like that because he is a cyborg, but we can make him walk fast. What he does is he walks very fast, and he’s got a gait that looks a bit like an alien. So we can change that to make him walk like this, and we call this the cpt technology.
One of the biggest problems with walking and running on a treadmill is that it’s hard to see any changes when you’re running, and the same thing goes for walking on a treadmill. So if you want to make the treadmill look like you’re walking, you need to make it look like its moving. The only way to do this is by making the treadmill and the treadmill you are walking on move as well.
